Your Gift Most days, I don’t question belonging, I look around, deduce that all is in place, results of past decisions, solid. This country backdrop if different, suits; family needs are being answered and there are moments of peaceful clarity. Faint images sometimes spin to the forefront of focus and it is tempting to recall life as being easier, but there is the complication of false memory, it wasn’t ever really THAT good. Tests are presented, as if proving worthiness is a constant, no amount of wishing will alter this, but it doesn’t matter, I’ve already been given your gift. © 2001 Corinne Bailey |

Corinne, The tests throughout life are endless and inevitable, but it is what we do with them that makes the difference for us. This was very profound. I enjoyed it. Great writing. Oh Corinne, that last line, well the entire poem THANK YOU.....ok now that I have shared how much this poem meant to me and don't change a thing with it I challenge you Lass, 10 days for a poem on the beauty and challenges of being a strong-willed Irish lass in the new milllinium. Come on, let's make our anchestors proud of us. Show the fire and determination and drive flowing through our veins. Let's write on the beauty and thrill of Ireland.
