~*~ THE LOVE OF BOOKS ~*~

The love and power of books is nothing new,
But use them wisely as with your children you read.
In later years it pays off if you spend the time,
Planting and caring for each tiny, verbal seed.

For young minds are so very receptive,
They actually crave guidance and direction.
So spending time reading them story books,
Later on, will be a memory of your affection.

A young mind left to wander on its own,
Finds verbal garbage sold in a great big heap.
There truly is nothing better for them,
Than a journal, in which their thoughts to keep.

“A Tale Of Two Cities”, Lancelot and King Arthur,
Hans Christian Andersen, and a little Betrix Potter…
This they will remember when they sit one day,
Reading in bed beside their own son or daughter.

In this world rushing by so fast we cannot breathe,
It’s nice to know story time is something to share,
Remember this, quality time used so wisely,
One day they will remember, and know you cared.

I love this one. I agree. My parents didn't read to me as a child and I feel that I missed out. As a result, I don't want my son to miss and he loves it when I read to him. What a great reminder for all parents. Beautiful write, perfectly written.

Hugs,
Tammy

I loved this one! My mom always read to me when I was a child. Now, I read anything I can get my hands on. Nice writing.

Welcome to Passions!

Welcome!!! Lovely painting to accompany your poem of advice. Are you a teacher by any chance, or a parent?

You know I love books and this poem is so special, mainly because you penned it, but also because of its message. I'm glad you're here, I won't feel so new..

Marge thank you for going in the dusty basement, and digging this old timer out, hope you enjoyed it.
