Forth Come The Seasons
By: Noah Eaton
3/5/01

The seasons come swimming in, they go receding, on and on
Like a flowing river that bands the world in it’s own repetition course
Looming onward like a migrating geese’s song
Grace balanced at the wingspan, wisdom forever carried under the chin

Could you imagine a world without Persephone and her magic seeds?
What if in time she would pay off her debts with Hades
And we would never see the autumn leaves or the snowflakes fall again?
Watching the glaciers and snow-capped mountains melt away into the ocean?

Would we dare interpret a world with Persephone incarcerated in the underworld?
Never see another warm welcoming of spring or summer up here on the surface, never see her frolicking freely in the meadows from here on
Bask in a paradise with the sun divulged in the stomach of the gray skies
Without sweet robins and sparrows to sing their songs, taciturn woodlands empty of the caribou and the endlessly hibernating creatures?

Inconceivable to think of a world without Demeter here to harvest our beloved Earth
Even when she can’t save all that mankind has raped and thrashed upon of hers
How incredible to stand on a world the gods have given us, born with the enchantment of time
Spring, summer, autumn, winter following each other like a mother swan and her ducklings

Step outside into the spring, watch the honeybees waltz in the park
Hummingbirds sharing the wealth of the buttercups with the lil’ cubs
Silken drizzles of the morning showers sliding down your face as the trees robe themselves in their foliage
Watch the river awaken in leisure, the fish and birds coming out to play along

Live it up to the climax of the summer, when the sun is hot and all of Mother Nature’s masterpieces dance in freedom
See the ladybug slumbering on a maple leaf, as the katydid acts his jokes, camouflaging within the trees
Sit outside in the warm evening and hear the crickets in concert, as the owls join along to play a duet
It’s all free, don’t miss this chance, for this magical few months only comes once a year

Oh, look now, can you see the leaves change colors, look at autumns flame flickering
Leaves fall from the tree aflame in gold and auburn and pumpkin attire
Squirrels scamper about to gather the fallen acorns, storing them in the hearth of their tree trunk homes
Woodpeckers ladder up the redwoods, feeding away at the sweet sap as the chipmunks gather the last fruits

Bundle up and enjoy the winter wonderland that follows, the valley powdered with frost
See the flickers gather up on the birdfeeder, can you see the lynx hanging from the branches?
Stand outside and let the light blizzard toss upon you, sit near the frozen lake and watch the ducks trance about
Feel the soft echoes breeze through your ears, meditating in the righteous serenity

Don’t waste another season, live these seasons from beginning to end
For every season has it’s gifts, the gift of a lightened life
Go all out in Mother Natures country, live the true beauty of our beloved Earth
So forth come the seasons, living to cherish them all

Mistletoe Angel, every line and every word is beyond being beautiful! You did great work explining MotherNature's earth. I will put this where I can see it and read it often. Thank you for sharing. Hugs, ME

Noah,

Thank you for a beautiful description here of nature and the seasons...how wonderful.
