Born in the mountains of Kentucky, On a hill in Butcher Holler, Everywhere you looked the houses were the same, But this was not the coalminers fault. Coal mining was every mans job, And at times it caused people to sob. Your mom helped raise eight kids from day to day. She did this in her loving way. As a child you began to sing, No one knew the fame this would bring. You married at a young age, Your husband earning minimum wage. Soon he took you away from all this, Your family you soon began to miss. A family you soon had, Which made you glad. Singing and traveling became a way of life, You took all this in strife. A star you soon became, With all the glory and fame. People still love to here you sing, A joy to there hearts you bring. Your life has had its ups and down, Sorrow and despair you soon found. Now you live at your Tenn. home, In a house you can call your own. I send this poem to you today, Writing it in my best way. I hope it brightens up your day, This is what I can only pray. This poem was written in honor of Loretta Lynn, and a copy was hand carried to her from a friend. Cathy Marie Bohannan |
