A Poem Of Love

In the begining when our love was new,
our moments spent together were filled with excitement and bliss.
The time we shared went by too quickly , oh how it flew!
When you would leave and we were apart,
the clock seemed to stand silent and still,
your absense always weighed heavy on my heart.
Every morning I always watched you leaving, walking out the door.
I would say to you-honey please dont go!
You would smile, kiss my cheek and say-don't worry baby, I'll be back and I'll love you even more!

Over the years, as the time went by,
our love grew richer and deeper.
It seemed as if we didn't even have to try!
Our lives were very full and busy those days,
not much time to spend together,
but we always found a few moments to show our love in many different ways.
And still, every morning I always watched you leaving, walking out the door.
I would say to you-honey please dont go!
You would smile, kiss my cheek and say- don't worry baby I'll be back and I'll love you even more!

God blessed us with a child,
she filled our life with joy!
She was daddy's little girl, her little smiles drove you wild!
Our times alone together grew shorter yet,
but we managed to steal a moment or two to remember
how sweet our love felt when first we met.
And still, every morning, baby in my arms. I always watched you leaving, walking out the door.
I would say to you-honey please dont go!
You would smile, kiss our cheeks and say-don't worry baby I'll be back and I'll love you even more!

Another year had came and went,
our lives enriched by another heavenly gift,
a baby son we were sent!
We were very happy and felt complete.
I was busy washing bottles and wiping tiny faces,
you were working long hours trying to make ends meet.
An evening spent alone together would be such a treat,
but we never seemed to see each other any more,
time alone seemed like an impossible feat!
And still, every morning, baby in my arms. I always watched you leaving, walking out the door.
I would say to you-honey please dont go!
You would smile, kiss our cheeks and say-don't worry baby I'll be back and I'll love you even more!

The kids are grown now and leaving , what a wonderful life we've had!
Where has all the time gone?, it went by much to fast!
Now I am sitting here all alone,
grieving, dreaming of our past,
wishing God had not taken you from me, and I had just one more chance to see you leaving, walking out the door.
one last chance to say to you-honey please dont go!
one last time to see you smile, feel your kiss upon my cheek and hear you say-don't worry baby I'll be back and I'll love you even more!

Sandra, this is very beautiful and touching. I won't go into a critique, since I'm not getting notification that you want one from your profile.

Very nice, indeed, Sandra I enjoyed reading this very much - Welcome to our corner of the cybersphere... This is a wonderful place (that's pretty addictive).. I hope you didn't plan on accomplishing any of your own work from now on...

Again - Welcome to Passions - We're happy to have you here...

Thank you all so very much for your kind words! And Nan...you are so right about this becoming addictive. This was my first stop of the day with my first cup of coffee lol.
OHHH I do want to mention that this poem was not written about myself...my wonderful husband is still very much alive! The inspiration for the poem was my mother and father. My father passed away 19 years ago.
