This is an oldie of mine but kind of a favorite as I'm going through this "who am I?" phase and I do believe I captured a truth in the end.

I'm so used to reaching out
and finding no one there
Sometimes I hate that part of me
that always longs to share

Alone is something I don't mind
Yet sometimes I wish for more
When lonely rain falls from my sky
it always seems to pour

I throw myself in everything
to fill this empty space
Yet in truth I run in fear
from what I also seem to chase

Kellie,
I like this is shows a sense of self along with the circular reasoning we all go through.

Dreamkeeper, The last two lines,is what many of us do many times. Our wants and fears are interwined. This reality is beautifully captured in his poem. Thanks.

A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes.

dreamkeeper - I can relate to this writing, as I also keep more than busy. I am always doing something. And I too, run in fear.

This seems to hold a grand wisdom and a reflection of clearer truth than one might be willing to accept about oneself had one not seen so clearly. Am I making any sense?

I think we've all experienced that pulling with one hand while pushing with the other conundrum... you've written it well!
