There is a White Dove

There is a white dove in my morning
Upon my window sill
In the bleakness of the dawning,
When everything is still

I hear her softly cooing
A song so sweet and pure
As though to be undoing
The worries I endure

There’s a dove in radiance of flight
Across the noonday sun
Translucent wings of creamy white
Whisper as they come

She follows in benevolence
My path in times of strife
And hovers o’er my countenance
A light upon my life

There is a white dove that alights
Below the attic eaves
In vigil through the stormy night
In rustling windblown leaves

The dove is like a guardian angel
Watching over me
Why is it I am blessed to tell
What others do not see

Why would an angel white dove
Stay there til tempest’s end?
She’s just a messenger of love
Rebecca, poet friend

Elizabeth Santos

(thank you Sharon for bringing this to my attention)

Liz, I don't know what to say. I was very surprised to see this. Then I was so touched, the tears just streamed down my face!

This was really beautiful, and I thank you for thinking enough to have me be the topic of one of your poems!

God bless ya Liz! ~hugs~
Thanks so very much!

Thank you all for you kind comments to this poem. I could not possibly write a tribute for Rebecca that would reflect or encompass all that she has done for me during this past year. Her prayers, her love, and her support merit so much more than a simple poem. But I do believe her to be a "Messemger of Love", a friend there beside me through a difficult time, and even now when she notices my absence for a few days, expresses her concern.
THank you Rebecca for being a friend.
And for the record, I am very well and starting a new and wonderful phase of my life. I am very busy and for this reason cannot spend much time on the forum.
I'm sure others have know Rebecca's loving qualities and her expression faith is quite contagious.
Your friend in poetry, I thank you all
Liz

Wonderful words and a wonderful tribute! The visions you've painted in perspective of the white dove are excellent...great poem!!

Suthern and ethome,
Thank you for your comments
Rebecca is so much more than I could write in a poem and so modest in the way she inspires others

Hey! Maybe I have a dove watching over me!!! Some prefer to call it "The Holy Spirit."
