and if I want you more
than you want me,
then what my sweet?
shall my wanting be enough
to see us through
or will you eventually wander to
where your wanting is more
where it is enough to match your need?

and if your loving me frightens me to flight
will you spread your wings
and fly with me, just so
I will never be alone?
or shall you wait patiently
for my wings to tire
and for me to return to your arms?

and if we found in each other
only what we looked to find
only what we longed for
and didn't heed what was really there
and the roaring fire, to not more than an ember
dies
shall you remain my friend
and still find comfort in my hugs
smile with me when I smile
and offer me your shoulder when I cry?
shall there still be
a place of solace for you in me?

I've always wished for happy endings like this.... I never got one........when it was over, it was over, and it turns out, I liked it that way.

This is very heart warming and sweet..... here's hoping..... SEA

I'm reading and eating dinner, tired, but finding peace in poetry and this one is so wonderful. Thank you for posting this!

Within the release of love in it's freedom comes the flight of comfort and the knowledge that it will find it's way back home and cuddle up in warmth to the heart that spawned the journey to begin with. Such wonderful words you pen in this one. Now my only question is .... " Can you book a red-eye on this flight or is it prime time travel only?"

Loved the composition of this piece very much and the flow and line breaks were remarkable. Just thought you should know.

Finding solace in another is a gift and it's always a risk when we want more... will we be left with nothing? Or will we find our way to the sanctum of total acceptance and unconditional love? Will you make a blonde think? *G* I love this, lady... especially the ending.

Absolutely wonderful, jellybeans. I loved the softness to this, the longing, the wondering if things will turn out good in the end. Great write, I'm glad I got the chance to read!
