So Tis Time To Sail Away

Cry not for me my little ones,
for I've just gone out to sea.

My bow to the winds,
my sails neatly set,
I go without regret.

I know not what
awaits me, but then
that's half the fun.
This new journey has
only just begun.

I've prepared for this journey
my whole life through.
I gathered my stores,
and mended my sails.
I await high tide so I can set sail.
Thats all I have left to do.

So bid me farewell with a smile
on your face..and know that I've
gone to a wonderful place.

And one day you too, will take
this same trip, so mean while
you'd better ready your ship.

The high tide came at break
of day...tis time for me to sail away
Hoist the sails and watch them unfurl,
a quick look back and I'm off in a whirl.

Well Nona I sure hope you're not dying and just going on a cruise instead..that would make me feel better...I'm trying to be a poet you know and like most poets I'm way too sensitive...love the poem! I enjoyed it.... take care....ethome

The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges.

I like your poem and answer to ethome.
My husband and I speak often of our parting this earth and make sure that we each know how much we have enjoyed our time together.

glad you enjoyed...the only way to survive the stress of working with people who are dying and their families is to have your own "head on straight" about death..I have spent many hours pondering this problem from BOTH sides of the issue...and I continue to ponder one of "lifes mystries....how else can you give effective counsel to them...thanks for your response...nona
