How long is forever?
That, no one can know.
They say it takes forever
For one to learn and grow.
Forever is forever-
I don't know how long that will be-
But I can say forever
Is the time you spent with me.
For though it was but one moment
That was snatched out of one day
My heart will always be with you
And that is where it will stay.
That moment will last forever
And beyond infinity
It left its mark upon my soul
And always is with me.
Your life has deeply touched mine,
So although here you could not stay
With you was my forever-
Forever, for a day.

Wonderful... Just wonderful... I don't like poems that rhyme, at all. They remind me of bubbly nusery rhymes of my early days, it's hard for me to think of them as serious. I read them that way, and this one is no different. But there's more than that in this, and it's made it's way past the giggly joking child that has etched itself in my mind. It takes a wonderful poem to do that. Sometimes good time does last forever, and it is extraordinary when it does. We tend to get so used to having a good time and have it over before we know it... But this is not always the case, and it is most magnifiscent when it is a time you spend with someone you truely love. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

I can't agree with Jeremy here as far as the rhyming goes...I can see his point somewhat...but I am a great lover of traditional poetry and I think it still rides the crest of talent that it takes to be proficient in poetic creation...this is very well written and it expresses feelings from the heart that I feel free verse doesn't do as well....mind you, I love free verse too because it opens the avenues to new and exciting approaches to the craft....all in all I'd say it's just a matter of opinion.....and mine is, I think this is excellent!!

The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges.

I agree with ethome... I meant the hinderance is mine, it's difficult for me to appriciate poetry that rhymes, and so it takes a poem that is really great to break through that for me. Of all the rhyming poetry out there that holds so much truth and meaning, very few are able to strike a chord in my heart. You have done just that.
