was going through some old ones and found this...not sure why I am posting other than I am in a writing slump again....sigh

humpty dumpty sat on a wall

she used to think
that he
needed her smiles
as much as she needed
his
but she doesn’t anymore
she used to tremble
with delight
at the sight of
his name
but she won’t anymore
she used to trust
all of her
to all of him
she used to trust
him to never reach out
and hurt
she doesn’t anymore
she used to think
he was the
perfect man
she used to give
her total desire
futureless
or not
but she won’t anymore
she used to think
that she
was his anchor
too
she used to think
that she balanced
his walk through
the hard times
she used to worry
for him
should she go
but she doesn’t
anymore
she used to worry
that without him
all the kings horses
and all the kings men
wouldn’t be enough
to make her whole again
she still does...

How did you know I feel like Humpty Dumpty this afternoon, I feel totally scrambled....

You write so well of wisdom we never wanted. *S* But I'd rather be broken than hard-boiled. *G* (Sorry... couldn't resist! *G*)

(I'll Fed-Ex this case of super glue as soon as I can get my fingers loose. *G*)

I really enjoyed this it's a good repost....have to say it was more than worth the read!

The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges.
