Forever Gone

The rose is now forever gone
The scent remains the whole life long
And visions of a petal’s hue
Abide within the depth of you

The wine he poured and slowly sipped
Remains on wetness of your lip
A taste so sweet does not depart
Embedded in a tender heart

A touch of silk, a feel of soft
The sense of rising up aloft
To touch the clouds, to soar the sky
Still dwells in reminiscent eye

How well we save the little parts
Of sweetness wrapped within our hearts
And never count the solemn tears
That fill the soul throughout the years

His words are scrolled in lyric rhyme
That live forever in your mind
His eyes that once enchanted yours
Are diamond’s gleam that still allures

The rose yet blossoms in your eyes
It is a flower that never dies

So lovely and flowing Liz ... and so very true. Memories have an amazing way of smoothing and softening over the years. You've crafted an incredibly lovely poem, with much wisdom within. Thank you for the beautiful read, my friend ...

Best wishes,
/Kit

You have a true gift for meter, Elizabeth, this is wonderful.

A cry that floats the wind in sigh
A sigh that brings a tear to eye.
A lovely fragile butterfly
That spreads its wings the shape of Y

A lovely poem Sy

You know how to make me think. When I read the title, I thought about the word "forever" and its meaning...and it can be both good and bad. When someone says, "I love you forever," it's something to be happy about, but forever gone isn't and you have to come to terms with it. Sorry for rambling, Liz....you've done beautifully as always.

Your just so good Lis... You know how much I love my Rose... and too, she'll never be gone from my inner parts. Again you've touched my heart... much much love.

Beautiful thoughts and reflections Elizabeth.

"How well we save the little parts
Of sweetness wrapped within our hearts
And never count the solemn tears
That fill the soul throughout the years.

"His words are scrolled in lyric rhyme
That live forever in your mind
His eyes that once enchanted yours
Are diamonds gleam that still allures."

These types of reflections of the warmth of a loving relationship are bound to flow through your heart from time to time .....the memories being still so strong....wonderful poem my dear lady.......take care ethome

The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges.
