Remembering

I look at life as bits of small delight
That come mixed in with hardship and with strife
A whole array of sentiments take flight
Within the valid content of a life

But I prefer remembering the good
And learning from the dark and painful time
For sorrow carves the dangling shapes of wood
And joy is in the breeze that makes them chime

How fast the the days turn into passing years
And through the sorrow comes some fleeting bliss
But if I could recall the whole of life
It would be wrapped within a loving kiss

We’ve known dismay the day we come to rest
But love is what we still remember best

A sonnet - I'm putting at the head of all my Elizabeth Santos' sonnets - if there were an easy was - it would be my signature.

'But love is what we remember best'
Just a week ago, I would have read that line with much cynicism...but today, I read it with joy and agreement. Thank you.

Liz--I love the way you look at life...and the way you so easily explain it with a poem...beautiful words, my friend.

Hi Liz,

But I prefer remembering the good
And learning from the dark and painful time
For sorrow carves the dangling shapes of wood And joy is in the breeze that makes them chime
How fast the the days turn into passing years
And through the sorrow comes some fleeting bliss But if I could recall the whole of life
It would be wrapped within a loving kiss

Your words move so,

Love, Cerenity

I'm not quite sure how you do it...say what you want to say, and it still rhymes!! But, I am in awe, nonetheless! Wonderful write, Liz!

everytime I close my eyes, I see your face, I taste you on my lips...
every night I fantasize that I can feel you on my fingertips...
