Feelings Do Not Matter

I used to think I was a knight to rescue damsels and save the day.
But not anymore, send a strong woman my way.
Gone is my desire to rescue damsels so they can steal my heart away.
I never envisioned or considered the possibility
that perhaps she wouldn't feel comfortable with me.
Wonder why I thought she was the one?
It seemed right at the time and she was so much fun.
Looks like I can't keep a woman for more than a month or two.
Am I that uncool or just totally undesirable?
I feel like I'm slowly dying.
I've never done this before.
If you only live for love what happens when love closes the door?
I feel like such a disgrace so she might as well go ahead and slap me on the face.
This whole experience make me feel like life is so much sadder.
Now I understand just a little better that love is a risky endeavor and feelings do not matter.
Don't mind me carrying on this way
children will still laugh and play.
Lovers will still kiss the night away.
I always thought if I treated a woman really nice
she would fall in love and love me the rest of her life.
Now I don't know what to feel, or think or say
except she gave me everything then she took it all away.

Isn't it something that when we fall in love we never really see how it could end? The pain? I was contemplating that recently and your poem reminded me of it.
Thankfully not all women are like the one you speak of. Keep writing........

A good woman exists for all good men James...sometimes we are overlooking the one that loves us the most...you know like the old cliche...can't see the forest for the trees..... type of thing. I think everyone can choose wrong and get so emotionally involved......ethome..................good write!

For some people, feeling do not matter, but fortunately, not everyone thinks like that. Greatly expressed, keep writing, and keep your heart open but also your mind.

A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes.

If a person with such writing skill
was so nice to me i doubt
i would take their heart and run!!
Great poem!
