I see you,
not the man, but the child.
With my hands, I touch you eyes,
fearful ones, begging for answers.
I wish I had them,
instead I hold you.
I cuddle you in my arms,
you cry, I cry.
Together, no ecstasy, no passion,
just love.
I look at you,
my maternal instinct
hold you.
I try to protect you,
but can't.
I need you,
not the child, but the man,
to love me and be there for me,
always.

A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes.

Sometimes all we can do is hold them. Sometimes we can't fix anything, just give them our love. Sometimes that is enough. You've expressed this very well!

Walker,
Not the child but the man, that's what I want, the partner who will share my trials and joys. Great Write.
