Under the stars upon the wind

A winding river of faces flooded my endless dreams
waking me in the night to face cold hearted screams
The tears the trinkle down my face leave me nothing but sorrow
for I can't forget yesterday, but I must in order to survie tommrow.

For in my dreams I see a people so strong so brave
brought down a trail that lead to the grave.
A rocky path of mud and sweat stretched before thier eyes,
Thier destination nothing but a field of lies.

The sons walked beside thier fathers.
Mothers accompied by silent daughters.
The only sound in the air
was the lonesome wail of a child in need of care.

The soldiers marched them as thier guides.
But the people would not look them in the eyes.
Thier eyes forward always towards the setting sun.
They kept walking praying inwardly for this to all be done.

All around them families were torn.
Leaving now widow mothers scared and forlorn.
The old, the sick, and the young were growing few
For many had been laid to rest on the trail's morning dew.

The soliders offered their wagons to carry the dead at least.
But they the people would carry them instead of handing them
over to the driving beasts.
As time drew on the river of faces was now but a stream.
But on they traveled pushed by the white mans
wagon teams.

After many a weeks and many a deaths they trail ended at last.
How do they go on though, with this memory in thier past.
The burden of thier people on those who survived
So many now of family deprived.

For this was the Trail Tears, though no one dared cried,
even as around them thier people died..
This to me is the Trail of Fears..
even after so many years.

Definitely the worse of human's deeds- War.
Very touching, I don't cry easily and it made me shed some tears.

A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes.

You have no idea how much I love this one nor how much it reaches the depths of me. I have some very strong feelings about this subject as do a few other people I know in here so if you don't mind, I believe I will share it with them. Wonderful write and such a powerful expression of emotions from you done so superbly. Well done.
