Never Land

I have been decried, raped of my light
Condemned by those who are transparent--
Beings who eyes linger only on skin,
Not on soul that is the core of my truth,
Nor the mind that flourishes behind
This unsightly form...
I have been belittled, deemed unworthy
To roam amongst the dreamers,
Those who hold resplendent reverie
Above all other cause...
They call me delicate, weak of the heart
Because I creep through the dust,
Coughing, sputtering, tears trailing
Down folds of battered flesh...
But they have never fought, never fallen
From their self-made celestial worlds,
Never been broken, abandoned, or alone...
But even though I’ve been stripped,
Left naked to the wind, to the rage of storm,
I know that I will survive...
For my soul is the core of my truth,
And my mind flourishes behind this imperfect form
And I am not transparent, but rather layered
In coatings of compassion, faith,
And most of all, love.

I really enjoyed this piece of poetry. To me it has a very raw and pained nature, I can almost feel the agony of being spurned for your appearance... Someone will recognize that core and the gleaming soul beneath, and that person will be lucky indeed. Great work, Sunlit Soul!

I too, really enjoyed this poetry. You have a unique way about you. Nice!

Very unusual but enjoyable approach. You are the real you to yourself and this porves it in many ways! Great read!

The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges.
