Mona Lisa Eyes

Da Vinci's femme fatale
with brushstrokes immortalized,
stare of innocent seduction
she holds the secrets of womanhood in her eyes,
skin, soft and elegant like creme brulee
hypnotic smile entrances admirers night and day,
in curious surrender, she poses for a lover
such exquisite beauty captured forever,
a masterpiece unrivaled
with brushstrokes immortalized,
yet, time weathers the colours,
the paint reveals the pain behind the depth of eyes,
only a few know
in her heart, shackles and wildflowers grow,
framed in glass to cry,
Mona Lisa eyes, have I

Oh, don't make Mona's eyes sad, Melissa! They are beautiful....and yours probably are, too

Through her eyes we did not see
but what you saw
was surely interesting

Oh my...your word usage is stunning, as is the feeling. I loved the whole idea, especially the ending "Mona Lisa eyes, have I"......phenomenal write!

Good poem. I think Mona's eyes speak different words to people. A bit sad, yet she's not telling...

wonderful Melissa. . . I'm always amazed at your ability to see beyond what's there. . .
