On a desert dry and lonely
where the rogue winds shift and change
there's broken hearts that listen
for love to call again
but there' only echoes calling
from a mountain filled with pain
and far away there's an old love to blame.

There's teachers and there's students
and there's lessons learned for gain
but gypsies with no mercy
leave fallen hearts in chains
and the chapters of defeat
are written on memory lane
and far away there's an old love to blame.

Secret memoirs of pages filled with passion
tear stained letters in a box made for shoes
dreams inked on promise everlasting
a river of words in isolation blue.

There's a distant fire an old desire
a deep eternal flame
but the weeping winds keep blowing
and the dead eyes hide the pain
it's a sorry mind to gather
and a hard thing to explain
and far away there's an old love to blame.

Secret memoirs of pages filled with passion
tear stained letters in a box made for shoes
dreams inked on promise everlasting
a river of words in isolation blue.

I agree, there is always an old love we leave all the responsibility for our condition on sometimes, and I too, have that same box of tear stained letters even still.
I enjoyed this so much.

Oh yes, I remember...an unrequited love...I thought it was "all" and "real" and little did I know...what I know today...

Ethome, my friend....wow....

Ebabes..this is so awesome...
what a soulful verse of singing the blues you have penned..
excellence if imagery and cadence and the emotions are written with the ache evident
and the chorus/verse repeat ties it all up poetically perfectly.

"There's a distant fire an old desire
a deep eternal flame"

way cool verse here..love the inner rhyme.
very cool write...time to bring out the Mardi-gras girls to sing back up for ya on this baby
and by the way .. love you new signature.

Love is my religion, I believe in nothing else.
To find that inspiration, live that inner vision.
Love is my religion...I believe in you.
