My Plight
By WhiteKnight

My spouse goes off to work at three,
Will we ever be free?
With the children nestled in bed ,
I finally rest my head.
I work all day, she works all night,
Home alone I sit and write,
This is our plight.

Online I go, to check my mail,
The soft glow of computer light,
Makes me feel pale tonight.
I hope and pray you'll be there too,
You'll speak to me, and me to you.

We talk of your life, and mine,
You make me feel so fine.
We can sit and chat all night long,
Because we always get along.
You make me laugh,
And that's only half,
Of what you do for me.
We often flirt, and skirt around things too,
I hope you know how I feel about you.

I tell you things,
I've never told before.
I share my secrets,
You share your friendship.
You keep me from being home,
Feeling alone.

We talk for hours,
It gets real late,
I enjoy my fate.
Happy now,
No longer sad,
I go to bed, I'm glad.

In the morning I awake,
I hurry , I don't want to be late.
I kiss my wife's forehead,
Around one she came home,
And went to bed.

I go to work,
Glad because you'll be there,
Your laugh and smile,
Make my whole life worthwhile.
At night you joked,
About unzipping for me,
You don't know,
But I would love for that to be.

In my whole life,
I have been with only one,
My wife.
I had never found another,
As special as her
Until we came to know one another.

You are more special than any I have ever know,
For you, I would give all I own.
For you, I would give my life,
Just to keep you from strife.
You think I am teasing,
When I talk about pleasing,
That I'm only joking,
When we talk about stroking,
But that's just not true,
I'd love to be with you.

As I sit and fantasize about you,
My wife looks through my poems,
Looking to see my words to you,
I know that this is true.

Now I ask you both,
Is this poem for you?
Is it really how I feel?
Is it make believe, or is it real?
I have written both ways before,
Some pure fantasy, some reality set in stone.

Is this for my wife to see?
For my wife who means so much to me?
My wife who used to do so much with me?
My wife who used to share so much with me,
Used to share my life and love with me,
She who used to do so much more,
Than just lay there during love with me?

Or is this for you my online fantasy?
My dream of life as I wish it could be?
Is this for you who bring me so much happiness,
The one whom I wish to kiss?
Maybe so, maybe not.
Either way, you always make my day,
By simply being there for me,
Or by saying "nice teeth",
When I smile a mile for you.

This poem is for you both,
you see?
You both mean so much to me,
Though in different ways,
How else could it be?
Things might not have worked out this way,
If I had not been home, alone, with just me.
Don't you see?
