Between the Lines

Time and Time Again...

Sometimes I wonder what draws one in,
A friend for a time or a time for a friend.
Are the feelers out, does it take magnetism
Is it just happenstance of a triangular prism?

With you on the one side, on the others, a door
Each one to open, each one to explore
In through the one, there's a sharing of soul
'Til misunderstandings, take over control.

And you swirl in the  colors of grays, blacks and whites
Can't ever win, no blending invites.
Does one ever really, know the other at all?
Is the "bottom line" solid, without holes, which to fall?

Does the mind take your thoughts, twist and turn colors, red
Form them in anger, kaleidoscoped in dread?
Lines of distinction, are leaded with point
Mind's eye sees them clearly, in shades of disjoint.

Broken the visions, the wondrous designs
Lost are the meanings, between all the lines.
Misunderstandings, construed, undermined
Just a broken kaleidoscope,  for eyes that see blind.

Once prismed in jewels, connections in tact
Shattered in darkness, dissolved by fact
Three sided, not two, prismed to last
Sometimes, just sometimes there's no hope for time past.

Time and time again I like to read your poetry my friend...I understand the words you're writing here...but it couldn't have been all bad it just ended up all wrong....there is always the good times to remember even though you are so angry, and well you should be, there was a time when it was wonderful. You're right ...do you ever really get to know the person completely...I don't think so.....

I know one thing...you have a natural talent for poetry and as far as I'm concerned you don't get the proper recognition for it...even around here...some things become too traditional without people even knowing it......write on dear poet friend!!

The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges.

recognition...E? I know I can write, I know the rhyming just flows naturally and I know I have a very sensitive soul. I will never be recognized in life the way I probably would like to be. But I will always remember how kind you have been to me, since way back when...huggzzz and many many thanks.

what a poem, wow,
I think we only know the other by their
actions.......this is rich, Maureen!

I have to agree with the others. This is beautiful and you really don't know someone regardless of how long you know them. Keep writing for some of us really appreciate what you do.

Kathleen yes, I have always said actions speak louder than words altho some words are meant to be heard too

JLR, thank you for understanding that line...it was a major one

Dennis, well I like your name for one, and second, we are all shy that's why it's in virtual words..instead of out in real...it takes getting use to...but everyone here will help huggzzzzz for a start

Ariana thank you for your appreciative remark...and you know what, after 30 years I still never knew my husband all that well. He kept on surprising me this last year and not with the kind one likes..*s

Wynter~
It just doesn't seem that it's been over two years
since our friendship began on another site ...

Always time for a friend, dear ... ALWAYS !
