Folks, I'm not the poet in the family
I never rhymed a word in my whole life
but lately I've been down and sort of feeling kind of free
as if maybe I could just get it right.

Just give me country music and a football game to view
and I'm a happy man, it don't take much
but sometimes you just have to take a chance and if you do
they'll either laugh or take you out for lunch!

So here is my first poem, please be kind, do not critique
I only learned the meaning of the word
I'm happy just to read or offer my own words, so meek
remember that should this be all you heard!

Alright you got the first one under your belt...hope you don't end up writing poems while your driving your truck like I do when I'm driving my car...much more dangerous than talking on a cell phone or a CB...safer to pull over...James

Dennis,

This was very nice for your first poem. I like it and you made me smile tonight when I needed it most. Thank you. You HAVE to love that country music!! Keep 'em coming!!

Welcome to Passions and I hope to see more. There are no rules on rhyming here. You can write free verse or anything!!

Hi Deeis,

Welcome to Passions, hope you enjoy your stay, the wonderful thing about poetry is its music from the heart and you sing so very well, keep on singing,,,

Dennis
This was a great first post. It seems you have an audience already. Put a guitar in your hands and this would probably become music to our ears. Country Music & Country Roads take me home to the place where I belong.
Welcome to Passions
