There’s something about…
that first sip of coffee,
that makes the whole morning seem right!
The smell of it perking, awakens desire,
to wash away tastes of the night…

You groggily stumble from bedroom to kitchen,
and pick up your faithful old cup…
the heavenly liquid is hot,
and you know has the power,
to wake you right up…

While some drink with sugar,
and others add cream,
There’s many addicted to black…
No matter your preference, that first sip of coffee is heaven…
We know that’s a fact!

You sit on the sofa with warm brew in hand,
letting steam blaze moist trails on your face…
With eyes closed in yearning, and lips slightly open,
You’re eager…
To claim that first taste…

Your anticipation has heightened your taste buds,
and now you can sample your brew…
That first sip is magic,
and others will follow…
Until that first cup is all through…

No matter how many cups you will imbibe,
as you work, as you rest, as you play…
That very first sip that you relish each morn,
is perfection…
To start out your day!

Sunnyone, the name fits. You are so bright and shiny today, was it the coffee? Love the poem!

Oh, thank you, walker!!
Yes, I think it's the morning coffee, the vanilla creamer, the honey, and the sunshine that is teasing me with promise of warmer days, even though there are 3 foot icicles hanging off the neighbor's roof!!! I'm glad that you liked my poem, and it is always good to see you in reply!!

Well this should be a Folgers commercial I just love it! Yes, indeed, this is exactly what coffee does for me in the morning with that first sip. I think that I'm in caffine overdrive though, it's only 1:52 in the afternoon and already I've had three cups

Take care,
Melissa~

Sunny

You are a girl of my own heart. There is nothing like a good cup of coffee, and when I smoked (I don't now)I could sit and contemplate with a cig and coffee. Yummy. Your writing has said it all. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Cerenity...
Is there room on that porch for a few more of us? We could start a poet's morning coffee session!! Hazelnut creamer is great too, and thank you!!

Hi Bill...
Well, now...There's always a pot perking in my house!! And there is an Alaskan brand that I've heard is very good, but I'm hooked on Folgiers!! Enjoy!!

Hi Melissa...
Your taste in coffee is perfect.......like I told Bill, it's Folgiers for this girl!! BTW, it's ok to drink coffee all day long!!
Thank you, too......

Hi Ariana...
Looks like we have a huge lot in common!! I used to smoke, too, but gave it up. Couldn't give up my coffee, and I still love to sit and contemplate over it.......time for all of us to go find Cerenity's porch!! Ha!!
Thank you, my friend!!

Hi Big Brother!
glad you said you like it black, because I just ran out of French Vanilla creamer, unless you'd care for a shot of Baileys in it!!!! Glad you liked this one...and who doesn't like fresh-perked coffee, served with a smile?

Sunny - as long as you make that first sip of coffee, sitting on the porch looking out over the forest, well, it's just fine with me.

Hi Kathleen...
Yep........I knew with a name like Kathleen that you would just have to love Baileys!!
I'm a Scotch-Irish gypsy, but I can't abide the taste of Scotch, so Baileys is my all-time choice!! What a party we could all have on Cerenity's porch!!

Hi Dee...
I have a better idea......why don't I fly to Australia!!!! I could use some summer sun right now, and it's cold up here in Alaska!!
Have that coffee on, and as soon as I win the lottery, I'll be up, (rather..down) your way!! Thank you, too!!

Hi Bill...
Ah, yes.......I do spend a lot of time in the wee hours of the morning looking out my window at the huge spruce trees, sipping my morning coffee. I'm smack-dab in the middle of the largest preserved rain forest on the continent, and I don't have a porch, but we could make do with a log stump........ok?

Sunny, I think this should be painted on the front window of our coffeehouse in Mendocino, what do you think?
Loved this, very cute, and accurate, too.

This is wonderful!!! I keep threatening to buy a coffee maker with a timer... or an IV that would start feeding caffeine into my veins 10 minutes before the alarm clock goes off would work, too. Well done!

Hi suthern...
Oh......have you seen the commercial where the people in the office are all wearing helmuts with cups attached, and someone just walks around and keeps them full? That's what I need!! Thank you!!
