Songbird

Each morning as my songbird sings her song
The mists of restless sleep to dissipate.
In joyful innocence I hum along
And watch the haze of wayward thoughts abate.
But as the moments pass, her voice is stilled
And faded, haunted echoes then ensue
So patiently I wait to be refilled
And long to hear my songbird sing anew.
She visits once again when evening's nigh
To soothe me with angelic lullabies
And as a teardrop glistens in my eye
I drift away on clouds of silver sighs.

Her songs of love are simple but sincere
And sung for but one humble ear to hear.

Very beautiful, wonderful incorporation of language not used as often today, adding to the romanticism of the piece. Enjoyed!

Hi David,

This is beautiful and I love these two lines immensely:

"Her songs of love are simple but sincere
And sung for but one humble ear to hear."

may your lullaby continue in sweet concert,

Love, Cerenity
