surrendering to less than common sense
yielding to my baser instincts
I gave myself up at the battle lines
we have drawn in the shifting sands
with hands upheld, and heart pounding
I slowly overtook the border guard
and lay prostrate at his feet, in abjection

“Captured at last” he grumbled rather smugly
and I wondered at his meaning, as he pulled me to stand
while slowly, so slowly, our steps took us to the higher power
to the throne where the Master sits on high
waiting to drop judgement on an unsuspecting heart
and there, hiding in the dark of the Kingly chambers
waiting to pounce on my soul from the shadowed corners
of the recesses in my mind, are all manner of creatures and demons

in a somewhat painful move
I rested my forehead on the cool marble step
before the allknowing god of this domain
humbled
subject
abject
and I awaited his ruling over my heart
fearing, yet not afraid
the outcome of my surrender

in a surprising move, the Master knelt before me
robes settling around him in a navy velvet cloud
his hands touching my hair, and his manner so gentle
causing me to look up in wonder at this strange occurrance
gradually realising he is smiling down at me
as he lifted my chin, so my eyes can meet his
my fears settled somewhat
as he asked but one gentle question of me
“Is there love in your heart my child?”
slowly I nodded my head, unable to speak

“Speak child!”

“Yes, yes there is love here!” I shouted

smiling, he sent me away with the guard
to head to my home in a far off land
but my steps could not tear me from this gentle man’s side
and I refused to leave, I could not walk away
for I realised there was Love in my heart, and it began right here
I had awakened from a life-long slumber of non-exsistance
and by surrendering all, I had gained everything

A woman has got to love a bad man once or twice in her life to be thankful for a good one.
Mae West (1892-1980)

It's nice to dream awake for a change, isn't it Angel. I'm so happy for you.

A very deep and touching write...much appreciated...thanks for sharing!

What a beautiful description of the complete commitment love needs to thrive. *S*
