Broken Promises

Laura M. Wells

I once believed in love, it came to me on the wings of a dove
A heavenly angel put us together......were we supposed to last forever?
I once thought I knew the answer to that, but now we are in the past.
I loved you more than life itself and i know you loved me too.
I have a small problem....i still love you.......you tell me to turn around and walk away
But I cannot........not today........i will not bother you anymore
You once had my heart and soul, on Angels wings we did soar
I wish you the best in life and all that it has to offer
You will make it, i know......you are stronger than you give yourself credit for.
I have many things I want to say, but they won't be said not today
Perhaps in another lifetime we will meet again
And i will always cherish my lover and friend.

Laura,

Oh I can so relate to this one. What you are feeling is natural. May your writing help bring you the healing you so desperately deserve. Best wishes to you in the future.

Laura,
even more painful than broken promises. . . are broken hearts. . .

be well my friend. . .

A hard day for such
and yet each who has
dared have felt the ache
of loves destruction

still no solace in sharing
that no nepenthe does exist
save the wheel of time and
one becoming ever more

try and feel the knowing
that no one knows what song
tomorrow sings dirges turn
tainted tears to joyous

in a single moments knowing

Be well this Valentine day.

Your poetry makes me wish you were my little sister. You have a great way of putting your feelings very accurately into words...beautiful words. And you deal with lost love with so little bitterness or harshness. I respect that as a trait I wish I possesed. Thanks for the poem.

Laura~
Those love promises leave many scars when
there are nothing but words to hold you after love leaves...I feel your ache in this
weave and my heart goes out to you as you
hurt....take care of you Laura~
