Loves Me ... Loves Me Not
~*Marge Tindal*~

If I harken to the petals
of the daisies I have found
I would surmise you love me
as the petals fall in soft surround

Loves me ... loves me not
I'll pluck until I satisfy my mind
The one that gives the answer I want
of the one I hope to find

If from a field of daisies fair
the answer is not found
petal by petal I'll keep on pulling
until you come around

Then you can assure me
that I need not the petal of a flower
to tell me of your love for me
for you do it every hour

Loves me ... loves me not ... loves me

oh I love the cadence and vocab of this one
so romantic and kissed with promise and anticipation
lovely Margie-girl...

"soft surround" ..
what a poetically perfect phrase.

Where the touch of the lover ends
And the soul of the friend begins
There's a need to be separate and a need to be one
And a struggle neither wins

the only valid test comes from the buttercup - held under chin - if skin glows golden  it may mean a child loves butter - but for those of our maturity - it confirms the Daisy test. (JMHO - you're loved - far more than you imagine)

Margie this is an absolute wonderful piece of writing. I know I'll never write even half so well, but I wish I could. Never mind as long as I can see beauty and read beauty then I shall not repine. Utterly magical and I can hear the delight in this.
Excellent piece from a talented writer

I love daisies...and I loved your poem. And wouldn't it be great to have someone tell us every hour that they loved us...ok, after a while it might get on my nerves but at first it would be very nice!

If I kept picking petals until I got the answer I wanted, there would be fields full of little daisy stems, blushing at their nudity! LOL. This is great! *S*

I would go daisy dippin but suthern has left the field all bare and I ain't as cute as those little stems she left behind. Would ya settle for a snake shedding his skin and slithering in out of the cold......to a cowboy it is all the same anyway.

Marge, how did you know? I had daisies in my wedding bouquet and I guess it landed on "loves me" because we are on the 46th year. And I got a box of candy today, even though I don't need it. So it does work sometimes.. Love your verse. Hugs, ME
