When poets fall in love
do they pen words that twinkle and glow?
Do they fail to feel the pain
that previously engulfed them so?

If those poets love long and hard
does it lessen their magic muse?
Would it be better to forsake love
to keep their tormented views?

Pray keep your distance Poetman!
Do not seduce me here
for I shall keep my poet’s lament
clasped to my bosom in fear.

I cannot fall in love with you!
I need freedom in poetry.
For moon and June and honeymoon
are not the words for me!

I think that all poets write about love because it comes from their heart.  They write about hurt, tears, happiness, love and their inner most feelings.  That's what makes them good poets.  Nice writing - very tender words.

Poet deVine - I believe that when poets fall in love, words are tender and sweet. But they do feel the pain, but now it is for them both. Read a love poem to a poet that one loves, and they will return in kind, with a passion that can't be denied>

Poetdevine,
Very well done. A magnificently worded poem touching where it is meant to.

Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love

I've thought long and hard about the reasons some poets, ahem, (myself not included of course), seem to write less if/when they fall in love.  Perhaps the muse that drove them to write in the first place was one of loneliness and after being appeased, escapes them to some other soul.  Perhaps it's just because there is no proper words to express the beauty of true love.  Then again, maybe they're just having to much fun to sit down and write...LOL  Realistically though, I just think many poets are most comfortable writing alone.  Even now, when I write, I have to do it in the middle of the night when no-one else is awake.  Sorry to babble, Sharon - but many here have asked why I don't write as much anymore so I thought I would take advantage of this thread to elaborate. Oh, and btw, if you get that chance to trade the pen, trust me when I say, it's well worth it.

JMHO - but I feel your fears are unwarranted.
I continue to write undiminished - yet unrealized - and refuse to be discouraged - any stage of love written with feeling will as this one - be fully appreciated by all the poets here   - for we've all 'been there' (thank God) (unless you simply don't want a moon,June, honeymoon in your future ~G~) Hey - you could follow Hoot_owl_rn ~G~

?#1----we did
?#2----yes
?#3----the end and the rest will come soon enough
Poets falling in love is too often not poetic at all...no pretty words here...when it's over.
Interesting thoughts and questions.  Thanks.
