Timing Is Everything...Sonnet

My timing was off when my father had died
Flight was too late, oh the tears heaven cried
On that night, when it soaked me in thoughts, once so strong
From the arms of his hold, then was lost, I too long.

My timing was off when to tavern, I strode
Needing him badly, yet on me he rode
When he said when confronted, "it's over you see
That was the last straw, this time, I want free".

My timing was off, it's been thirty odd years
But the last three the clock stilled, no time, only tears.
All forgotten the good now, the moments of love
What if's are too late, as I ponder what of

My life that's been shattered by timing, it seems.
I am forced in the now, my "forever" just dreams.

wynter - I also was late, but with words that should have been said. But now I realize that perhaps it wouldn't have done any good anyway.

Nate ..happy to have you read me *s

doreen..thank you for the challenge, it was one that just poured out of me with little effort, I guess I was pondering all those what if's already.

Sven ..the pain is always there..but the memories of good times flood every now and then. . .

BC...well every generation is different, our fathers didn't know how to show outward love as much or maybe society wouldn't allow it...but yours knew just as I know mine did..*softsmiles
