She said she was infatuated with infidelity.
I said I was interested in invincibility.
Needless to say, we were both miserable.

Our relationship dissolved like cedar smoke
becoming one color in the deepening twilight.
Needless to say, it wasn’t as beautiful as that.

I wrote a letter saying I never want to see her again.
Later, I wrote four asking if she would still be my friend.
Needless to say, I spent my savings on stamps.

I found a new girl out of an old friend’s love.
I hope the old have found someone too.
Needless to say, whatever; who cares.

my goodness someones moody muse is complacently cranky today
you write it...I feel it...
which is very cool my gifted squirrel poet
love that second verse
very cool write Mike,
and nice to see you here today

Where the touch of the lover ends
And the soul of the friend begins
There's a need to be separate and a need to be one
And a struggle neither wins

'I wrote a letter saying I never wanted to see her again/Later I wrote four asking if she would still be my friend'.  Good to know there are other minds like mine.  Enjoyed this much.

Liking this...liking this a lot!

It has that subtle minimalistic tone I just adore...

great write b

- it was not an
unmusical sound: long, falling, half a sigh,
like wind in the wires, or a train distancing.

Thanks everyone. And Butterfly Slippers, it wasn't crankiness, just me poking fun at emotional excess.   Glad everyone enjoyed.
