Illumination

As grass in glassy morn must shiver, wet
and wake to frost of fragrant earthen plot,
for warmth impatient stir is dew's offset
till silver sun climbs into skyward spot.

And now it comes that I awaken cold,
laid bare beneath this unforgiving dark.
Awaiting welcome light of glory's gold,
I search the night to fan salvation's spark.

But if by grace the gleam of life remains
upon my youthful swell of warming skin,
arise I must from out these earthly chains
to seek illumination from within.

Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau

Sometimes we need to look for the light we all have inside instead of seeking it elsewhere. Wise words.

Elizabeth, Marge, Sven, thanks to each of you for sharing your thoughts with me. It really does come from within, doesn't it? (o:

Meadowmuse - well done from your pen, and yes to light from within is where it starts.

Spoken eloquently and with such truth, Claire. You are very wise, for many times the light does indeed come from within.
