Dancing Again

shhh….
don't tell
but isn't it swell
when you're
alone
and the music
comes on
your feet
begin a tap
tap tap tappity tap
and then
your knees
follow suit
and if no one looks
then you're looking cute

because the music's
got you in it's sway
and all of a sudden
you're dancing away…

and 76 is 16 again…

happy takes over
and pleasant smiles
and here you are grinning
and all the while
your feet are tap
tap tap tappity tapping along
to the swing of
that old song
and you weave
and wiggle
and give a little jiggle
and then
a little giggle

and 76 is 16 again…

you spread your arms
'cause your loved one is
there
in the air
and your dress
is in a current's caress
as it swings
as sounds bring
a sweet ring
to the
tap tap tappity tapping
of your feet
as you complete
the song to its end…

and 76 is 16 again…

then the music
swifts away
as fast as it came in
the memory
of the dance
is grist to a story

but when you sit next
at your desk to pen
a dancing memory,
the tap tap tappity tapping
comes to your feet
as you complete
the song to its end…
the rest is history…

and 76 is 16 again….

What a treat this was!  I really do love this and relate very much   Only music could stir such fervor in a person, regardless of age, I loved the line "and 76 is 16 again" In fact, there are many great lines~

Take care,
Melissa~

Hey lady K...I know this dance so well...it is one of my favorites...no toes to step on...just the rhythm and the soft sweet air.

So - there I was at school today - We had an assembly with story-telling, sing-along, knee-slapping, hand-clapping dancin' music...

Would you believe - My students accused me of "DANCING"... with little giggles.... Teachers aren't real people, you know... LOL... Little do they know!!!...

Neat poem, K.... I like it..

Waft every crest upon your destined sea.
Embrace the Wave of Serendipity,
Lest its elusive arcane ecstasy
Refurl with sail for all eternity.

Karilea~
And you would know that I dance daily ...
it giggles inside me and reaches my feet ...
There she goes ... tappy-tap tapping !

DELIGHTFUL !
