Just Love

Like a candle in deep midnight
you burn and shine your love on me
and in the weave of our heart glow
within this house of years is we

The bed is worn from many nights
yet each was filled with your sweet touch
some cool cotton and some flannel
but each with love is filled with much

Sun and sky and earth you sing me
and I with words lift up my voice
and together harvest this way
giving the bounty of our choice

If a poem could complete the feel
of you still beside me waiting
it’s of the power you give to me
with your sweet anticipating

Ever now this sweet embracing
within my words of love listened
and in this keep we’ll stay in time
for with we our hearts are christened

Absolutely stunning work! You give me hope for what my relationship will be down the road. Your words evoked all the images I want for myself in love. Wonderful work.

Martie,

You certainly are christened with a lot more than any of us here really know... Did you notice it's getting harder around here to say "thank you" for responding,,? So I will say thank you here for your reply on "still well." You and Taylor have such loving hearts. Your both certainly God best.

love, dale

My husband came home with a vase full of tulips last night...not just any tulips, but parot tulips...they are spectacular...and I said it's not valentines day yet, and he said, it doesn't have to be to express my love...so I asked him what I could give him...and ah-hum....he said, write me a poem.

Dang girl...you do sing mighty purty when ya is feelin that love thang.  This was lovely from title on down.  What sweet words of romance from that pen of yours.

You've penned some wonderful lines here, Martie!  I love the flow of this one!  Thanks for sharing!

I didn't see this poem until just now!  It's so beautifully written, and mirrors so much of what I have been blessed with too.
Such wonderful love described here! Oh, I love it when someone else knows the pleasure and security and sweetness of long-term love in marriage!  And few can describe it like you can, that's for certain!
