(Years ago - this was a popular song -
I repost a bit of the lyrics -
and some lines of my own for Sharon's challenge)

"You go along never dreaming I care
Loving somebody somewhere
Leaving me my silent love
...
How I long to tell
Still it's wrong to tell
You would not understand..."

I've loved you from afar
Over distance, over time
Wished for you on every star
Wished your love I find sublime

Slept each night alone, bereft
Hugged my pillow as 'twere you
Stuck my lips into its cleft
Felt your neck, conceived your 'coo'

Danced with a broom
Across a solitary room
Dreamed of you within such gloom
Wondered if it's to be my doom

So it is each day and night
All my words go out in space
Worried myself till I'm a fright
Worn the floor with loving pace

You're in my dreams
Waking or sleeping
You're in my prayers
I pray God's keeping
The warmth of you
My thoughts are steeping
You stay in my thoughts
As night comes creeping

Great souls have wills; feeble ones have only wishes.

"Worn the floor with loving pace".... this is a really great line.... the poem has the longing and feelings you write about a lot.... nice work here...

as far as the broom and the refrigerator? well... if i could find someone to sweep me off my feet, who wouldn't try to make me eat (god, that rhymes!), i wouldn't be bloatware in silent love......

and so i sweep myself away
sometimes with words and phrases ceased
by brooms which brush my cares away
while writing lines of love, increased.
no silent love could ever clean
the floor beneath -- my eyes have seen
too many lovers parting blind....
all long for love! the truest kind.
i grab the broom.
i scan the room
to see if anyone is there
and what i find?
i may be blind...
but i don't see, so i don't care.

whoops! got a little carried away writing spontaneous poetry... but all this to say... i enjoyed your poem, mr. yeats! *cheers*

Sheesh Bill,

It's getting harder to thank people for their replies these daze... So I guess I'll tell you first how good this challenge is... then I'll say thank you for your astounding kind words on my "still well"

Nice nice work on this one Bill. My head has been else where and nothing came to mind. It appears though that you've caught it well.

Bill--You express the longing of love so well...and the broom is great...me, I just dance with the air and make my own music.
