Erase the Distance

Run your fingers through
my hair, tangle yourself
up in the length of me
and throw your colors
over my empty canvas
create a me, that wasn't
there before, you

Bring me higher into
the storm, allow our tears
to rain down over the
pictures of the past, erasing
then ... draw your tongue
over the shades of love
and paint me, tomorrow

Taste the salty sweet remnants
of tender passion, lingering
on ... long after
make me come unglued
at the sight of you
take my breath and inhale
it into your own lungs
close your eyes and see
the impression I left

Place your hand to your
chest and feel the place
where I crawled inside
and claimed it as my own

Come ... erase the distance
I need you more
now than ever...
    I need us.
