Ya Know...
Virginia Salter

Ya know...
if you step back
look at the world,
man’s world,
with its alabaster pinnacles and granite faces
fingering the clouds
its asphalt ribbons running all about
its cries of screaming voices
its shouts of blasphemy
waiting for the moment of profound infinity
you may be swallowed up in vanity
or eaten with disease
but...
if you step back
just a little farther
look at the World,
God’s World,
with its granite hillocks
its basalt mesas
its igneous and metamorphic mountains
coated in evergreen
laced with living water
teeming with fish and fowl
rhyming with scents of life, both animal and vegetable
you just may be given balm
you just may see its rainbow of promise
you just may be filled
with the hope of that living water
and be able to walk forth
into its future
with a tear in your eye
a smile on your face
for the faith you’ve been given
to continue the race

As in most all things human, it is our response wich determines who we are. Our ability to place perceived difficulties in any kind of perspective speaks volumes about one's beliefs and confidence within them.

VAS, I had to read this through several times and let the words sink in! I must say you have written a beautiful, moving poem. So many of us don't see the trees for the forest. You opened our eyes.  Hugs, ME

Thank you, each and every one of you.  I had a stressful day, in many ways and your wonderful words were a balm, are a balm.  You also caused me to read this piece again.  It's one of my fav's I have to admit.  There are definitely some poems that my loving Lord helps me write, just to bless me with His love.  I really think this is one of them...I believe it.

Again, thank you, say I with a very grateful heart.
