The Audition

Every day that passes by
I am reminded of a special time
When dreams and wishes were passionately held
Within the heart of a blonde little girl

To this day there is a portrait
That has adorned my bedroom walls
It has a place within my home
Where the gold of sun may cast its glow

I reminisce each passing year
When attic cleaning is done in spring
Of when I received a precious gift
My mother could ever give me

Sewn by the hand of love it was
A leotard in blushing pink
With petal skirt in sheer chiffon
And brand new tights in shade of beige
This little girl was then transformed
Into a ballerina it would seem
While her audience of cherished teddy bears
Sat quietly in her view
She made her first pirouette of dance
Within the tranquility of her room

There are more tales that can be told
But this one forever shall remain
Of a loving mother and a little girl
Believing in a dream...

Tomorrow holds only mystery
And who's to say what might be
But in you I've found a love so strong
