O, glorious bit of nourishment,
Thy taste is truly heaven sent.
Such pleasure thou expounds to me,
My precious tube of ecstacy!

Though many morsels touch my tongue
Thine anthem ne'er shall be outsung.
Sweet Machevellian delight
Pervades my throat with every bite.

There is no greature pleasure than
Eight sausages packed in a can.
The grandeur of thy sweet bouquet
Is faint to take one's breath away.

Thy juice and stunning succulence
Is said to conjure flatulence
And rumblings from the diaphram
Unmatched, of course, except by Spam.

But, from this land where Mozart played
And Ludwig Van conciertos made,
This land from where great music came
Is it not right you make the same?

Though other weiners may aspire
To be as plump as Oscar Meyer
Thy svelte, petitte, and sleek design
Slide freely through these lips of mine.

At weddings, thou art ever picked,
With swedish meatballs on a stick
To be the morsels of delight
On that most joyous of all nights.

My dearest treat, I bid thee well.
I love thee more than words can tell.
I take my leave....I must compose
My "Sonnet to the Oreos".

Omigod 'deer LMAO! You are just something else, you know that?! I have read this 3 times already, and each time I laugh harder. And even at that, you manage to rhyme perfectly with a great flow. Into the library this goes, you are just so clever and witty, my friend~

I am a proud member of spam!!

Take care,

Balladeer, Dear,
Once again you have out done yourself.  I think that the sausage factories will be sending you a free supply.  I have to thank you personally though.  I'm a long time member of the Vienna Sausage Club too.  This ode is all of my feelings for such a rich flavored delight!!! Wonderful piece and I will be looking forward to one about the Oreos soon..

Love,
Lady

This is delightful!!! If not insightful. he he

I've just about finished my breakfast and yet it is taking all my perseverence not to run to the pantry and devour the contents of one can at an alarming pace.  I, too, care for these little wienees in a can.

Your sense of humor is showing!!!!

Your timing couldn't be better with this repost. *S* I was thinking of this gem earlier this week when I saw a great sale on Vienna sausages and Spam! LOL (Don't get excited... I didn't buy any for you... the shipping costs would have destroyed the savings! *G*)

I thank you all, vienna sausage sweet people. It is good to pay tribute to the small, seemingly insignificant items of life that provide so much joy and pleasure to our existences...long live the minor joys of life!!

My precious tube of ecstacy?????? I had to stop and giggle for five minutes before attempting to read the rest, and then giggled on down...

Personally, MY Oreo sonnet would be so involved it might scare people…ask anyone who’s see me eat chocolate…lol… I’ve had boyfriends tell me after a piece of cake that they suddenly feel inadequate LOL!

Why is everyone laughing in here on this thread?  I see this as a very serious matter and a well deserved tribute to those small morsels that go through so much just to give us a minute or two of pleasure just for us to stab them with a toothpick and shovel them in one by one without truely taking the time to enjoy each one individually.  Now come on people, eat slow and enjoy the personality of each one of those wonderful little sausages. (Think they bought it sir??LOL)

(reminds me of a certain jet that hasn't QUITE MADE IT YET. I AM only in TENNESSEE right now after all...you really don't have excuses...you've got three weeks boyo...)
