I Was Set Up
Virginia Salter

Yep, set up! Consternation in my cup.
Unwelcome pain brings tears to eyes echoed in audible sighs.

To whom do I have right to blame?
To whom do I this proclaim this pain.

“A mind is a terrible thing to waste,” they say,
and days like these it wastes away.

Confessions good for cleansing soul,
might it then make one feel quite whole?”

Well, I’m the one to cause me strife,
I’m the one that taints my life.

Expectations, of immense proport,
are what I’ve set my heart to court.

No wonder I feel blue and weepy,
the words I hear are downright creepy.

An enemy abides with me
and colors harsh the world I see.

My cries come now to plead my case,
“Help me, Oh, Lord, this pain erase.

I know it’s not Your will for me
that salty tears would be my tea.”

Wow, this piece brings all kinds of thoughts to my mind.  Now I'm going to have to sit down and think more about life all day today.  Everything flowed so smoothly. I don't know what more to say, other than I enjoyed it.
Thank you so much.

Love,
Lady

Live in my world just once and you'll find yourself enraptured.

I had originally written

this pain proclaim

'proclaim this pain' I forgot to take it out

Thank you, Ladycat.  If this causes pondering, I hope it ends up being a good sort.

My intent is just an expansion on the idea that if one listens to his/her mind when it's delivering the negative or becomes disappointed because of unrealistic expectations, then s/he has to look at how to become stronger at refuting such thoughts.  I think prayer is the only way to begin positive thinking.  The prayer must be diligent, though.  Okay, I'll step away from the dais.
Again, glad you were moved.
