Listening to every heart

0 posted 2001-02-03 08:50 AM

Traces

on an early morn
time of birth, time of born
the mother gave, the father lifted
and in child's smile, they were gifted
traces on the heart

baby's hand, fingers curled
mom's face greets, dad's heart unfurled
all in the sweet smile of baby girl
now, to go give life a whirl
traces on the heart

time is shadow, grace is light
sunbeams cast the shadows aside
babe to child to young woman sweet
mom is proud, dad's full complete
traces on the heart

history touches, makes replete
round and round the circle meets
young woman to woman grown
held then some babes of her own
traces on the heart

one love, didn't last
second love, gone and past
not to surrender to love again?
when so much love lies there within?
traces on the heart

face coming age, grace the stage
lift all gentle spirits, quell within the rage
close a door one day, then follow the light
that one true love comes, deep within the night
traces on the heart

in early mist, time now worn
comes soft death, time of mourn
she gave her best, all were lifted
and in her smile, they were gifted
traces on the heart
