Borrowing to Give

lend to me just one line
lend to me just one line
let me make it mine, all mine
let me make it mine, all mine

then let me lend it back to you
and see with it what you'll do
for I am sure as sure as I be
you'll give it back to marvel me

I gave away a line or two
then one gave one back to me
'tho now remorseful here I stand
for I let it slip right through my hand

not even did I put the ink in the pen
now wonder if I shall hear it again
something about a mirror, and how it hit
a head it did, broke apart in wit

for all the conversant sages I've met
their lines come flowing, leave me wet
in sound of surf, in rain, in tears
yet they guide me, loose my fears

lend to me just one line
lend to me just one line
let me make it mine, all mine
let me make it mine, all mine

I share and share, then share again
to care, I dare, then share care again
and listen to a promise, tho ask not when
a muse keeps its promise, I'll know it then

there is a friend out there in the lands
said "now there's a line, take a stand"
but the line broke, on gossamer string was held
I hope she finds it again, come to me and weld

back the lines in my mind that I can't find
for I took a moment to sleep, unwind,
now I find that upon awakening, I'm blind
and suffer regret, for a line I can't find…

lend to me just one line
lend to me just one line
let me make it mine, all mine
let me make it mine, all mine

and if you cannot lend me a line
not even for a little while…
then just take one of mine
and weave it into a smile

for if I cannot read one of mine
then I'll read yours, and be fine….

I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound.

Sunshine,
you can borrow any or all of my lines, but here are some that are a gift:
a line that's a promise
of enduring might
arises from pen
as eagles in flight
so Sunshine might borrow
an unchained mystery
with hope for tomorrow
a setting soul's free
soft on her pillow
these words I will write
so as she dreams
she'll hear them tonight.
Her words have a power
that goes with her song
so borrow my words
please take anyone
and when you write them
and let them go free
if they are willing
they return unto me.

Write on
Kethry

There are quite a few of your lines I'd like to borrow.....in fact, I'd like to 'borrow' them all! I can?!! Wow!! Thanks, Karilea!! Do you have an eraser? I have lots and lots of erasing to do, what with changing all the author's names from Sunshine to Denise....hehehehe   Another lovely poem, Karilea!

Kari dear heart, I won't borrow to give back because you craft your words so perfectly. But sometimes you let a word or two drop. And when you do I pick them up and use those, which is where at least two of my recent scribbles have come from. Thank you for those dear heart.
This is utterly wonderful and you have produced another of your pure golden shining beauties.
I love it, as I always do, and that is honest and true. (Is it thoughtful I don't know love is it?) Kari will always be the biz as far as I'm concerned)
Wonderfully written, beautifully constructed and a delight
Thank you love
Take care as always love
Majestic, word borrowing, puckish, Marsha

hey, karilea... this was really cool! and i just wanted you to know that you can feel free to borrow a words from my mouth any time at all~! you've loaned me a few, y'know? ((hugs)).... i mean, if ya really wanna! thing is, who would want to quote from this drivel... LOL... but anyway, i enjoyed this much and i sure know how it feels to lose a line or two... many times i wake up and i'm still half asleep and i have what i think is a really good verse just flowing in my head somewhere and then when i get up to go write it down? poof! gone! god, i  hate it when that happens...

... this poem of yours flows, girl! you've got some kinda muse going lately.... pouring them out one after the other and they're all really good.... you make me proud to know you, ms poetess!

Ms. Marie, I love it when I'm libraried....thank you SO much for inspiring this little gem....but darn if I can remember now the exact line you used....part of it is in there somewhere....if you can find it, you can borrow it back....LOL....

Kethry, sweets, thank you so much....I believe I will....

Denise, I use my delete key and/or whiteout, which can explain a lot....lol....thank you!....

Mr. Yeats, thank you for the emphatic "good"...{~,^}

Marsha, as long as you don't trip on any of the marbles that I lose....and as far as those loose words?...you've done QUITE well with them, thank you!...

doreen....there's about 4,000 muses out here, and a few favored ones that really keep me up at night, and during the day, and no naps in the afternoon....so I'm very glad you're enjoying these, Ms. Poetperfect!
