Star light...star bright...
You look vaguely familiar tonight.
I believe you may be the one
Who holds a wish I made long ago.

On a night similar to this,
an opportunity almost missed.
But from the corner of my eye
I saw you twinkling just so.

It's all coming back to me now.
I had forgotten it all somehow.
Though now that I stand before you
it seems like only yesterday.

When I glanced at the sky above
And wished for a life filled with love.
Then feeling slightly foolish
I quickly walked away.

It's been many years since that night
And again I am bathed in your light.
As I listen to the breathing
Of the man lying next to me.

The man who holds me when I cry
And swears he'll never say good-bye.
He cherishes the woman I am
And helps me see the woman I can be.

He still loves to hold my hand.
I know he's proud to be my man.
I guess I could say that...
He fills my life with love.

So now, star light...star bright.
I recall that wish made long ago.
I'm sorry it took so long to realize
that you were answering it all along.

TennesseeAngel~
This is lovely !

I'll bet I've got a star or two floating around out there
with wishes made long ago.

What a novel concept !
I just love it.

Gotta go with Marge here my friend.  Neat write!  Loved the use of the old theme in a new way.

TA~
So tenderly beautiful...you've tugged at my heart strings this a.m.  This is no small feat...they've been covered in "life" for sometime now...but you found them with this poem...great writing!!

wishes are funny aren't they Angel? You think that they haven't come true. . . and then it hits you. . .

wonderful. . .
