You are a shadow of your former self
The years have not always been kind
And looking back can use some help
Getting old is just a state of mind

When first we met you had hair of gold
Your eyes so bright and clear blue
And a body firm yet soft to hold
I love all the parts that make you you

So many times we have laughed and cried
Seen changes both good and bad
To think of those times and sigh
And thankful for all we have had

Now the years seem to fly by
I see a picture and I can't remember
If they are family or friend or why
It was important to save that picture

The golden hair is now snow white
The clear eyes are behind thick lens
The firm body is just soft and might
Be whats left of what must have been

It took such a short time to be young
Beautiful in mind and body and soul
Then the down hill of old age begun
More beautiful because for now I am whole

Oh...they say wisdom comes with age and if this poem is any clue...you are wise far beyond your years dear

As a spokeslady for the biggest majority of the population right now, the 'boomers', I applaud you for this one!! It isn't so bad getting older......you're able to get away with a lot more!! Great write, my friend!!

~~~ enjoy yourself ~~~
this is a wonderful tribute to "growing old gracefully"
Ohh..This shows the beauty of age, and I love it. I'm never in a hurry to be older, but always in a hurry to learn as much as I can about life so that one day I may be able to pass it on to others who need it! Excellent work! Thanks for making me think!
Mark, the sun was bright and you couldn't see the shadows  LOL.  Now days you only have to be 40 and start "the golden years". Just thought I would throw that in. Thanks and hugs, ME
