I ask myself this
If tomorrow never comes
Will never having seen your face
Matter in the grande scheme of things?
And I answer...no

Then I ask myself
If the sun refuses to shine
Will never having held you close
Change the world in any way?
And I answer honestly...no

I ask myself
If the night never ends
Will never having said I love you
Be a moment I will regret?
And I have to answer...yes

So somewhere between the night and the dawn
Where the world renews itself
I tell you all you mean to me
For no other reason than
I love you

THE reason, to be sure, "somewhere between the night and the dawn".  If only we could all do as well.

That was a beautiful build up in the poem. My eyes widened at the ending, it made me really think about honesty and how it affects love... thanks for the read!

Paula, how beautiful and tender this is, and how honest!  It really touched my heart. Thank you.  I'm going to put it in my library.

Paula~
this really struck my heart. you have
penned a very important lesson for us all
here. we should always tell those dear
and close to our heart for no other reason
then as you have so beautifully said
just because "we love them". loved this!
take care,
amy
p.s. did i say i really liked this?   i did!

Really enjoyed this - how you cherish your love even though the universe will continue without it....pragmatic appraisal while celebrating your joy - hard to do, but you've done it well!

Paula,

I found myself in a philosophical debate over this one.  My conclusion?  I don't really know.  But that a verse could create that effect, speaks volumes.
An excellent poem for me to come back to.

Paula, you know that I heard that song as soon as I read this. . . it's wonderful. . . and you've really captured it here. . .

Oh...isn't that time between the darkness and the dawn sometimes a magical time. One never knows what tomorrow will bring, but we can live the moment to the fullest and what better reason than because you love someone
