Antarctic Intentions
By: Noah Eaton
1/28/01
Out of my dreams I fall like a baby being raised from the ramshackle highchair of time
Thrown behind the bittersweet portcullis of the palace of fate, I cling to it’s cold bars
Reaching for pieces of my fantasies, servants of Captain Time Will Tell pull me away
I have been delivered to the deserted playground in a ghost town, seeking my destination

Down a frozen mangrove I walk, through the slipping shadows of lost innocence
Muffling my face with my scarf, keeping the sour taste of laceration from my tongue
I am the star of this melodrama, a young man of the world protecting myself against medias matador
Assisted by the love of my friends, walking on through the refluent breath of these antarctic intentions

I’ve been out on the overpass of the cloverleaf of consciousness
Just off the lookout of denials chasm, far above the Earth
I’ve seen people throw the cannonball of all they can’t leave behind off of it’s jagged precipice
Seen all that stands before them taken for granted, taken for a fake

I keep the nuts and bolts of my dreams tucked in the pockets of my heart
Gathering each piece along the way as I come across them
To open this gate, swoop up all I long for in my hearts butterfly net
My lungs burning petards thrusting at these cold bars, blasting them down

The painful truth burns me like a sinks faucet left on hot water
You fall for a long time to recover your dreams in reality
The further you descend, the closer through you ascend, that’s the way it seems
Eventually breaking loose of the arctic jaws of burdens bargain, crashing gently in the sea of warm invitations
Arctic intentions shalt melt at satin fingers of wills phoenix glove
Breaking the ice to the highest amends
