I was driving down the road,
in my own little world,
not thinking much of anything.

Then, just out of the blue,
the radio played a tune
done by some old eighties band.

In the blink of an eye
I was sent back in time
to the days when you and I were one.

And I can still see
us walking on the beach
and the water glistening in the sun.

I wore my heart on my sleeve.
And you swore you'd never leave.
Oh, but just look at me now.

Reminiscing in my car
as I hum a couple bars
to a song I haven't heard in years.

A song that used to be ours
when we used to be in love
when you thought the sun set in my eyes.

It isn't sadness that I feel
'cause I know it wasn't real.
Simply adolescent fantasy.

So I find joy in the song
because I can hum along
and be lost in that old memory.

T.A.

Oh yes, I think we have all been there with you.  You will see something or hear a song that just reminds you of the days of yesterday out of the blue.  Well written.

It is great to see you here again my friend.

And don't those old love songs
just seem to be the ones that become the classics ?

I just LOVE a memory with a melody !

Well.........YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!  I think we can all relate to this one and I wouldn't trade a single one of those memories nor the songs that go with them.  Excellent write and what a wonderful way to reflect back and find a smile and the warmth of some happy and carefree times.

balladeer -- As always, I love to look and see a response from you!  Thank you so much for your kind replies!

Mark -- It takes a little bit of time and maturity to be able to look back and smile but when you reach that point, it's a wonderful thing.  And I wouldn't trade a single memory either.

snowpants -- I can always count on you to read my stuff even when no one else does.  Thank you for that.
