Perhaps I always knew I must love you
Before I gave my heart to you to hold.
It's true the recognition is quite new,
But maybe the connection's very old.
Perhaps your soul and mine, when time began,
Were bonded in some way we do not know,
And it was part of an eternal plan
That you and I should love each other so.
Perhaps there was a reason that we met,
Our souls united by decree of fate,
An ancient covenant we can't forget,
Although remembrance came to us so late.

Perhaps it's not important when or how.
What matters is I know I love you now.

Wow!!!!  My little poem inspired this?  First off, I am honored.  Secondly, this was a beautiful sonnet and I am with our friend Coco....I love the ending in it.  That is one lucky man you have.  Great writing from you.

SEA -    I love your reply!  It is perfect.  I'm honored to be in your library.  Thanks.

Coco - Thank you, and thank you for telling me you were grabbed by the ending.  It's always nice to know what works for people.

Mark -   As I told you, your beautiful "little" poem made me think, so yes, it inspired this.  Thank you.   I'm the lucky one, I think.

Kethry - Thank you.  You are sweet.

Lary - Thank you.  I guess it's not so much acceptance on my part as the realization that there are some questions I can't answer.  It's nice to wonder about them, though.

Denise - Thank you.   I'm always pleased by your praise.

Songbird - I am flattered by your comments.  The truth is, I think the best way to learn to write sonnets is just to do it.  I wrote my first one just about a year ago, and it was awful.  We won't even go into that.  I've been writing more lately because I was asked to by a friend from ICQ who is also a poet, but not at this site.  If you'd like to know more about what works for me, you can e-mail me, and I'd be glad to talk to you about it.  I'm sure you can do it, if you want to.
