Bats in the Belfry

Bats in the belfry, screams unheard.
Frozen moments, silent word.
How I detest, those shadowed wings,
Tears of my fearing, heart flutter sings.

Today, this night, once again he came,
Maybe the ghost of the summers same.
Was the last time I needed him, before he would want
To leave me forever, with memories taunt.

And once again numbers I called, answered she,
Gave message to him, to come straight to me.
Pounding my heart, denied it was here,
But screaming at him brought the bat into fear.

Went soaring above me, my shrill seemed to call
A mating of sorts, would be his downfall.
As I waited in shivers in cold, out of doors,
My almost ex husband sent bat to the floor.

And laughed at hysterics that I did portray,
'cause the greatest of fears from my childhood this day
Was the one of the bats, in my nightmares back then.
So, I'll sleep with the covers over head, once again.

I've been saying I don't need a man for a thing,
Well, tonight I did need one, for his mighty swing....

I had a small bat fly into my house.......I thought it was a bird at first, till I got closer.......then I freaked out......my girls were screaming.......my son and my dog wouldn't get away from it.......what a mess......I had to throw a towel over it and scoop it out of the window sill and out the front door.......then.......I had a beer! I thought this was going to be about mental bats in the belfry... and I'm well acquainted with those! LOL. This is great... it might not have been funny at the time, but you've told the tale well! *S*
