Have you ever seen someone, come close to them for just a while, and then were separated?  That person would have been your Autumn Leaf.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Autumn Leaf
It rustles about in the wind;
The zephyrs of nature taking it
To places unknown.
Yet it is content - content in its fate.
Its golden and red beauty - amazing;
Its fragile existence infusing life with pure joy.
The vibrant life withheld - it generously gives away
With more always in store.
One magnificent day, the unseen breeze laid it on green grass.
The grass cherished its presence - for it had never been greeted with such beauty.
It had enjoyed friendship and more with many others;
But none like this.
Soon the iwnd lifted it up and swiftly took it away
And the grass watched - just watched - unable to do anything.
It sighed in sorrow but enjoyed the memory of the time spent together.
For that is all it had - the golden red memory of the autumn leaf.
This is fantastic, CD!  I can relate to this...I guess you could say that I have an 'autumn leaf' myself.  Wonderful imagery!  I love this!
You define the beauty of loss - so poignant  and so irrevocable.
Nice!
Wonderful analogy, CD.  While I was walking this afternoon and reading, I began thinking of how we celebrate the birth of Christ in December then after just a few short months we mourn His death and rejoice His resurrection.  His life here was so much like the span of an autumn leaf.
CD~
Welcome to Passions ...
I really enjoyed the imagery in this piece.
I've known many Autumn leaves that have come
to lay in piles across my heart.
Love ... just love the memories this one evoked.
Nicely done.
Thanks a lot you guys.  And VAS, I totally agree with you.  He is definitely the first one to be compared to an autumn leaf - especially after what He did.
Marge: I am glad that I could bring out some feelings.  Thanks.
Snowpants and Jsom: I am glad to hear that someone has been through this.
Cheers
