Between a laugh and a tear...

A repost in memory of my Cousin.
Ronald John Meehan.
Born 26/11/1952  Died 29/1/1999

We weep not that you are gone
but rejoice that you were here.

The Barrington Mountain Fishermen

The Barrington Mountain fishermen
They'd come up here every time they can
Every holiday and long weekend
How much they loved this mountain land

First came here toddler on father's knee
Deadly and dangerous saw it all first hand
Years gone by still much to see
Kept coming back to this mountain land

They would come to share the spirit
With wives and children of their own
The call of the mountain they'd all hear it
This land too, now also their home

And when they passed from this life on
Spoke of memories 'round the campfire ember
Of mountain men like Saltbush Bill and Cousin Ron
Thier lives and lessons I will always remember

(8th July 2000)

I believe that your cousin will have read this already, somehow, somewhere, I'm sure he will be thanking you for it.  As for me, I think that this poem is the most timeless and the MOST precious gift.

Very subtle and strong.

Love it.

Mother Earth ~ The beautiful thoughts live on in our hearts. I always appreciate your thoughts, thank you!

Kethry ~ if my work soars it is because it is lifted by the spirit of those of whom I write.

Janet ~ The pleasure is mine my friend in knowing you have read my humble offerings. That song has significance to me just now and one of my favorites as well. Its hard to pick just one, though I have narrowed the list to less than 50 now.

CD ~ Welcome and thank you so much for adding your thoughts here. Take care!

Charisma ~ Your hugs are appreciated as much as your kind words my friend, take care!

Kathleen ~ I am humbled and honoured that you think so, I appreciate your comments greatly!
